Routes and stations
Gare Cornavin is the main station and transport hub. Trams run to Plainpalais, the old town area and the Nations area, home of the United Nations office. Buses 5 and 28 link the airport with Nations.
The Mouettes boats cross the lake between the left and right banks and are part of the same fare system. The Léman Express trains link Geneva with nearby French towns.
Tickets and fares
The Tout Genève single ticket costs CHF 3.00 and is valid for 60 minutes with changes in zone 10. A short trip of up to 3 stops costs CHF 2.00. A zone 10 day pass costs CHF 10.00, or CHF 8.00 if you start after 9:00.
Children under 6 travel free. Trips into France need an extra Léman Pass supplement.
Prices can change, so check tpg.ch before you travel.
How to get the free cards
Guests at registered hotels, hostels and campsites in Geneva receive the Geneva Transport Card for their whole stay, often by email before arrival. It covers TPG, trains and boats in zone 10. Ask your hotel if you have not received it.
On arrival at Geneva Airport, take a free ticket from the machine in the baggage claim area, just before customs. It is valid for 80 minutes on public transport, enough to reach your hotel.
Tips for travellers
Trains from the airport reach Cornavin in about 7 minutes and run very often. The free 80-minute ticket is valid on them.
Ticket machines accept Swiss francs, euros and contactless cards. Buy your ticket before boarding; there are no gates and inspectors check often.
A taxi from the airport to the centre costs about CHF 30–35, so the free ticket saves a lot.
