Installing a travel eSIM takes about two minutes. Do it at home, on Wi-Fi, a day or two before you travel.
On iPhone
- Open Settings → Mobile Data → Add eSIM.
- Choose Use QR Code and scan the code from your order page or email. If you are buying on the same iPhone, use the one-tap Install eSIM button instead.
- Name the new line “Travel” so it’s easy to spot.
- Set your home line for calls and SMS, and the travel eSIM for mobile data.
On Android
- Open Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM (Samsung) or Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add (Pixel).
- Scan the QR code, or choose to enter the details manually (SM-DP+ address and activation code).
- Choose the eSIM for mobile data.
When you land
- Turn on the eSIM line and make sure it is used for mobile data.
- Turn on Data Roaming for the eSIM line — travel eSIMs need it, and it costs nothing extra on the eSIM.
- To avoid charges from your home operator, turn off data roaming on your home line.
Good to know
On most plans, the validity period starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination. Keep the eSIM installed until your trip ends — deleting it usually can’t be undone.
