Routes and stations
Prague hlavní nádraží (Prague main station) is the hub for long-distance trains. In the 2026 timetable ČD runs 14 ComfortJet and 16 railjet trains a day each way between Prague and Brno.
Railjets continue from Brno to Vienna and Graz. Prague to Vienna takes just over four hours, with a train about every two hours. Trains to Bratislava and Budapest also run about every two hours, and the Metropol night train links Prague and Budapest.
ČD also runs to Berlin and, from May 2026, again to Copenhagen. For Český Krumlov, travellers usually take a train to České Budějovice and continue by regional train or bus.
Tickets and fares
For international trips, First Minute fares are the cheapest. They are tied to one train and sell out. Prague–Vienna starts at about €14.90 in 2nd class, €29.90 in 1st and €44.90 in Business. A flexible fare costs about €59.
Domestic tickets are cheap compared with Western Europe. Prices on cd.cz are in Czech koruna. Fares change often, so check the eshop before you travel.
Business class on railjet includes a welcome drink and at-seat service. In Czechia it also includes a CZK 50 restaurant voucher.
How to book
Book on cd.cz (eshop), which accepts foreign credit cards. Registration is optional but helps you find tickets again.
The My Train (Můj vlak) app for Android and iOS shows connections and sells tickets. Show the ticket on your phone to the conductor.
For some international routes you must print the ticket. Check the confirmation email.
Tips for travellers
Railjet trains have a restaurant car and free Wi-Fi. Seat reservation is optional in 2nd and 1st class but required in Business.
On busy Friday and Sunday trains between Prague and Brno, add a seat reservation. Bicycles are allowed on all ČD trains.
Compare with RegioJet on Prague–Brno and Prague–Vienna. Both are good, and prices can differ by day.
