Route and stations
Trains start at the Terminal 5 station, stop at Heathrow Central for Terminals 2 and 3, then run non-stop to London Paddington. From Heathrow Central the trip takes about 15 minutes. From Terminal 5 add about six minutes.
For Terminal 4, take the free Elizabeth line shuttle train to Heathrow Central first. At Paddington, trains normally use platforms 6 and 7.
Tickets and fares
On the day, a single in Express class costs about £25 and in Business First about £32. Booking online well ahead is much cheaper; advance singles start from about £10, but they are limited and tied to rules on the official site.
The company says children travel free with a paying adult; check the current age limit on the official site. Railcards and promo codes are accepted on some tickets. Prices change, so always check before you travel.
How to book
Buy on the Heathrow Express website or app, or from machines at the stations. Since 2019 you can also tap in with a contactless bank card or Oyster card, but you then pay the full walk-up fare, not the advance price.
Mobile tickets are scanned at the gate. Buying on board can cost more, so get your ticket before boarding.
Tips for travellers
Heathrow Express is best when you arrive near Paddington or are short of time. If you are going further, Paddington connects to the Tube and the Elizabeth line, which adds time.
For families, the free child fare and fast trip can make it competitive. Trains have luggage space near the doors.
Services stop a little earlier on Sundays and public holidays. Check the live timetable for first and last trains before a late flight.
