The Green Line is 22.5 km with 20 stations. It serves the older areas around Dubai Creek, Deira and Bur Dubai, between e& and Creek stations. The two lines meet at underground transfer stations in the centre.

The Blue Line, about 30 km with 14 stations, is under construction and is planned to open in September 2029.

Tickets and fares

Fares depend on how many zones you cross. With a Silver nol card a trip costs AED 3, 5 or 7.50. Gold Class costs double. The Red paper ticket for occasional riders costs AED 4, 6 or 8.50.

A Silver nol card costs AED 25 including AED 19 credit. A day pass costs AED 20 in Silver and AED 40 in Gold. Students, seniors and people of determination can apply for the Blue nol card with half fares. Fares can change.

How to buy

Buy nol cards and Red tickets at ticket machines and offices in every station. You can top up nol cards at machines and through RTA channels.

Tap your card at the gate when you enter and again when you exit. The fare is worked out on exit.

Tips for travellers

Each train has a Gold Class cabin and a cabin for women and children only. Men in these sections can be fined.

Eating or drinking on the metro can bring a fine of AED 100. Using another person's card can cost AED 200.

Hours change on Sundays, public holidays and in Ramadan. Check the RTA app before late trips. The Red Line connects to the Dubai Tram at two stations in Dubai Marina and to the new Etihad Rail station at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Last checked: October 2026. Fares and timetables change, so confirm on the official website before you travel.
